Our Chrome Plated 18-8/304 Stainless Steel Fasteners is produced by taking the fasteners, cleaning and etching the surface and than plating with Bright Nickel and Chromium. The thickness of the material is approximately .00001 in. thick. This increases corrosion resistance as well as avoiding the "Passive Film" which can develop in 300 series stainless steel. This chrome plating adds significantly to the cost of the fasteners, as it involves several steps to produce.
